Arif Asnawi Leong

President

Arif Asnawi Leong, Brunei’s pioneering actuary, embarked on his professional journey in 2015. He achieved the distinction of becoming the nation’s first qualified IFoA member and is the only Qualified Fellow Actuary in Brunei. Currently serving as the Head of Actuary at Syarikat Takaful Brunei Darussalam, he has over 9 years of expertise in both Life and non-Life Takaful business. Armed with a Masters degree in Actuarial Management from Heriot-Watt University, he specializes in actuarial valuation, product development, and strategic planning, notably in implementing IFRS 17 standards.

Arif’s pivotal role extends beyond corporate realms; he spearheads community initiatives as the founder and president of the Brunei Actuarial Society (BAS).

Pengiran Rahman

Vice President

Pengiran Rahman was the first actuarial graduate to join the industry in 2009 after he completed his Master’s degree in Applied Actuarial Science from the University of Kent. He has experience in both the general and family takaful business. Throughout his career he has worked in various projects within the general and family takaful scope.


Currently, Rahman is the Brunei representative in the ASEAN Actuarial Education working committee under the ASEAN Insurance Council (AIC).

Zulhisham Zolkepli

Secretary

Zulhisham is one of the pioneers in actuarial work in Brunei Darussalam. He is an experienced Analyst with over 12 years of working experience in Brunei financial industry in particular area of actuarial, data management, financial management and risk management.

He has also been involved in financial modelling. He holds Microsoft Office Specialist in Excel and MSc in Applied Actuarial Science from University of Kent, United Kingdom. He is also a professional member of Institute of Enterprise Risk Practitioners with a Certified Enterprise Risk Professionals and Manager and Business Continuity Leader.
